American cockroaches are the largest common cockroach species, growing up to 2 inches long. They're sometimes called palmetto bugs.

German cockroaches typically live 100-200 days. During this time, females can produce 4-8 egg cases, each containing 30-40 eggs.

Food residue, moisture, and warmth attract German cockroaches. They're particularly drawn to kitchens and bathrooms.

German cockroaches are light brown with two dark stripes behind their head. Adults are about 1/2 to 5/8 inch long.

German cockroaches reproduce rapidly, develop resistance to pesticides quickly, and can hide in very small spaces. A single female can produce up to 400 offspring.

Oriental cockroaches prefer very moist environments and are often found near water sources, leading to the nickname water bugs. They can survive underwater for up to 30 minutes.

Unlike some cockroach species, Oriental cockroaches cannot fly. Males have short wings while females are wingless.
